William A. "Buddha" Franks Sr., 78, of Richeyville, PA (Centerville Borough) passed away on December 20, 2024 in the Concordia Hospice of Washington Donnell House.

Mr. Franks was born on July 19, 1946 in Brownsville, PA  a son of the late Harry and Edna Wilson Franks Sr.  He attended the Beth Center High School and graduated in 1964.  Following his graduation, he was enrolled in the U.S. Airforce serving for several years before being Honorably discharged.   William had a passion for cooking, and also attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Culinary Arts.

He was employed as an underground Coal Miner in the Vesta 6 Mines for over 10 years.  Buddha was later employed at Atria's Restaurant, and Bella Piatto as a Sous Chef.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Steelers.

Mr. Franks was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church in Fredericktown and belonged to the Hanson-Cole American Legion Post 391in Fredericktown.

On July 7, 1979 he married his wife Paula Johnson Franks who survives.  They celebrated 45 years of marriage in July.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons Thomas Johnson (Melissa) of Vestaburg, PA and Bill Franks Jr. (Cara) of Washington, PA; Grandchildren Kali, and Kyla Franks; sister in law Marie Franks of Denbo, PA.

Preceding him in death are three brothers Harry Franks Jr, Abram Franks, and Robert Franks.

Friends will be received Thursday December 26, 2024 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd. 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA, 15313 where Funeral Services will be held Friday at 12:00 p.m. with pastor Sheldon Barnett officiating.  Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a time to be announced at a later date where the U.S. Air Force and the Hanson-Cole American Legion will accord Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Hanson-Cole Fredericktown American Legion Post 39.
