William "Bill" W. Filby Jr. 79, passed away on Sunday June 22, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family.

Bill was born on December 30, 1945 in Coal Center, PA a son of the late William Sr. and Helvi Flanders Filby.  He graduated from the California Area High School and was enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Sargent.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.

Following the service, he was employed as a Machinist for Elliot Support Services in Donora from where he retired after many years.

Family was very important to Bill and he enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their various sporting events.  He also enjoyed hunting and his many trips to the family cabin in Potter County.  He was a Life Long member of the Centerville American Legion and served as Commander for several years.

He leaves behind three daughters; Linda Mihalcin (Robert) of Charleroi, PA; Tina Filby (Richard Power) of Brownsville, PA; and Lora O'Neil (David) also of Charleroi; four grandchildren Baylee Workman (Ryan), Brayden Mihalcin, Tyler and Taryn O'Neil; Three brothers Robert, Richard, and John Filby.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his wife Rose M. Filby who passed away on July 5, 2015; nephew Justin Filby, and sister-in-law Bonnie Filby.

Friends will be received on Thursday June 26, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd.  2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA where Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Al Poroda officiating.   Interment will follow in the Westland Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Airforce and the Centerville American Legion.
