William A Balog Sr. 73 of Richeyville passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Mon Valley Hospital
Bill was born May 16, 1949, the son of the late William and Elvira Balog
On October 19, 1966 he married Celeste Havrilesko Balog his loving wife for over 55 years. He was a 1967 Graduate of Bethlehem Center High School and later the Electronics Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, PA.
Bill was a mechanic at Vesta 5 mine for 14 years and an industrial mechanic for several companies, retiring after 10 years of service from Bay Valley Foods, Pittsburgh, PA in 2012. At times he traveled for work, his farthest to China where he spent six weeks. Upon his return he had a greater appreciation of the freedoms and opportunities offered by our great nation.
Bill was a lifelong member of the Calvin United Presbyterian Church of Brownsville and was also a member of the UMWA, UFCW local 23 and the Miners Club.
Until health issues slowed him down he was an avid hunter, and a classic car enthusiast, still owning his '62 Corvette he purchased at the age of 17.
Deceased in addition to his parents are maternal grandparents Lydia and Louis Stanko, paternal grandparents Peter and Mary Balog, favorite Uncle Louie Stanko, brother-in-law Anthony Flauto, close cousin Ron Matola, beloved nephew Noah James Havrilesko and several Aunts and Uncles.
He is survived by his wife Celeste, his sister Lydia Flauto, his Aunt Marcella Farkas, his son William A. Balog Jr (Teresa), daughter Renee Sera (John), grandchildren Tyffini, Skyeler and Talon Balog, Blake, Brycen, Ellianna and Victoria Sera and great granddaughters Elaina and Addyson.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday from 1-7pm in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA 15313 where services will be held Friday, June 3 2022 at 11 a.m with Rev. Kristen Emrick officiating. Interment to follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
