Violet R. Chmura, 86 of Upper St. Clair, PA (formerly of Ellsworth, PA) passed away Sunday March 10, 2024 in her home after a brief illness with her family by her side.

Mrs. Chmura was born on February 26, 1938, in Cokeburg, PA a daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Glatfelter Stimmell.

Violet was a 1956 graduate of Ellsworth High School.

On March 1, 1957, she married Leon Chmura and became a devoted military wife. During her husband's career, Violet accompanied him on military assignments in multiple states and abroad, including assignments in Germany and the Philippines. While her husband was deployed during the Vietnam war, Violet remained in PA, raising her four children on her own.

She was employed at Belle Telephone Company for 30 years, first in Biloxi, Mississippi, then in in Washington, PA.  She began her career as an operator and retired from the Customer Service Department as a sales representative.

Mrs. Chmura loved spending time with her family.  She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Violet was always known to be up to date on her politics. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Domino who she adored.

Mrs. Chmura was a member of the St. Katharine Drexel Parish.

Surviving are three children Jeffrey, and Thomas Chmura both of Ellsworth, PA, and Mary Conn of Upper St. Clair, PA, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren Rachael Huber (Victor) of Victoria, TX, Haley Martin (Lucas) of Cocoa, FL, Josh and Aidan Conn, of Upper St. Clair; Two great grandchildren Maverick, and Scarlett Huber; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband Leon J. Chmura who passed away in 1986; two children John Chmura, and an infant son.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 in the St. Katharine Drexel Parish Bentleyville Campus at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Michael Peck as Celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Lukes Cemetery.   Arrangements have been entrusted to the Greenlee's Bentleyville Home 619 Main St. Bentleyville, PA 15314.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to  The Washington Area Humane Society.
