Thomas Andrew
Matich
Jan 1, 1982 — Nov 20, 2023
Thomas Andrew Matich, resident of Delaware, tragically passed away on November 20, 2023 at the young age of 41.
Thomas worked the past few years at Delaware Rural Water, a job he enjoyed tremendously. He assisted and supported towns and municipalities throughout Delaware. Thomas was a master utility locator and Geographic Information System Specialist. As a dedicated worker, Thomas was always the first person to help any of his peers. Thomas loved GIS and served on several committees and related boards within the state of Delaware. He had recently studied and worked to earn his water operator's license and was working towards several other certifications. Thomas also owned and operated his own utility locating and GIS mapping business, which he successfully ran for over 10 years.
Thomas, a graduate of Bentworth High School in Bentleyville PA, was a sports enthusiast having played basketball and baseball. He loved the outdoors, frequently spending time bike riding with his family, fishing, crabbing on his boat, or meticulously maintaining his yard. He took great pride in everything he did. One of Thomas' greatest accomplishments was being a father and coach. He loved coaching youth basketball and flag football and actively supported his daughter's middle school academic teams as well. Thomas had a sincere heart and his enthusiasm for work, learning, and life was contagious. He was a beloved son, brother, father, partner and uncle who will be missed by all who loved him. Although his physical life ended unexpectedly, his optimistic impact on others is everlasting.
Thomas Andrew Matich is survived by his children Alannah Matich and Thomas Matich Jr., his mother Sharleen Mihalina, his partner Chalea Johnson, his siblings Shannon and Kimberly Matich and Michael and Joseph Stocks; his pet children Roscoe and Champion; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father, Joseph Andrew Matich; his paternal grandparents Joseph and Marie Matich and his maternal grandparents Mike and Flora Mihalina and pet son Bishop.
