Obituary

The gates of heaven opened up for Shirley Ann Kubitza Kadash, 85, of Bentleyville Pennsylvania on October 31, 2023.

Shirley was born in Brownsville on April 19, 1938, the daughter of Thomas Kubitza Jr and Mary Seach Kubitza.

She grew up in Daisytown, where she was a member of St Mary's RC Church.

As a teenager, she worked as a clerk/delivery person at Berkman's Market. She graduated from California High School in 1957.

She lived most of her life in Ellsworth. She worked at the Bentleyville Foodland, Carmen's Fruit Market and Village Flower Shop. She was a long-time member and officer at the Bentworth Senior Center and a member of the Women's Guild at the former Ave Maria Parish.

She was a devoted housewife and mother to her children. She served as a Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts and was active with the St George Junior Tamburitzans. She traveled to Canada, Croatia, Italy and the Vatican. She also traveled the US with her family.

Shirley was a creative person, making clothes and costumes for her children, making and painting ceramics for family members and friends, and decorating her home for the holidays. Shirley was an excellent cook and baker and did an excellent job keeping the Slovak traditions that were passed down from her parents.

She was always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. There were never any walls or barriers in her life, she loved everyone.

For the last 8 years, she lived at the Bentley Towers and had many friends. She was a member of the "Ladies Puzzle" group which she enjoyed so much.

Shirley is predeceased by her husband John (Yunko) Kadash, brothers: Joseph Richard Kubitza, Charles Ronald Seach, John Kubitza and Robert Kubitza, and sister-in-law Betty Shanahan. She is survived by her brother Bernard Kubitza, daughters: Deb (Roger) Pompermeyer, Yvonne (Steve) Ruffing, and son John (Kimberly) Kadash. Also surviving: Grandchildren: Justin McKeta, James Fidazzo, Ariel Kadash, Zachary Kadash, Sarah Ruffing, Alex Ruffing and Lauren Ruffing. Great Grandchildren: Cassidy McKeta, Colby McKeta, Cailyn McKeta, Bella Fidazzo.

Shirley had a full life and was loved dearly by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. She now rests in the peace and love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Friends will be received Monday, November 6, 2023 from 9 AM to 12 PM in the Greenlee's Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main St. Bentleyville, PA. Prayers of Transition will be offered at 12 noon in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 12:30 in St. Katharine Drexel Parish Bentleyville Campus with Fr. Dilio Onyejiuwa officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela, PA.
