Shirley A. Fowkes, 86 of Richeyville, PA (affectionately known as Bubbie) passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024 in her home.
She was born February 8, 1938 in Beallsville, PA a daughter of the late William Lloyd and Dorothy Bakewell Smith.
Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Centerville High School.
She was employed in the meat department of the Giant Eagle in McMurray, PA for over 33 years, retiring in 2007.
Mrs. Fowkes was a member of the B-C-R Lioness Club for 20 years and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Shirley enjoyed traveling, golfing and dining out. Most of her leisure time was spent doing what she loved best, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On September 15, 1955 she married James Fowkes who survives. They celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Also surviving are four children, Brenda Ford (Mark) of Richeyville, PA, Cindy Cunningham (Larry) Blanchard, ID, Deanne Berryman (Duncan) of Canonsburg, PA and Jamie Fowkes of Malden, PA; eight grandchildren, Allen Berryman (Hollie), Mark Ford II (Bobbi Jo), Alyssa Ford, Sgt. Joey Teagarden U.S. Army (Amber), Jordan Teagarden (Mark Chedgy) and Gina Koon (Avery), Bret Cunningham (Maureen) and Brook Cunningham; seven great grandchildren, Braylee, Aliana, Hart, Jameson, Jackson, Ayla and Ben; a sister Betty Johns (Tom) of Guyton, GA; several nieces and nephews; brother in law Dale "Pidge" Fowkes and sister in law Doris Fowkes.
Deceased are two brothers, Lloyd Harold Smith and James Smith; a grandson Andrew Berryman.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 6 PM in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA where funeral services will be held Monday, December 23, 2024 at 11 AM with Pastor Ken Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery, Long Branch, PA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the B.C.R. Lions Club 23 Furlong Dr. Coal Center, PA 15423.
