Robert J. Sweany Sr., 69 of Clarksville, PA passed away Friday, January 12, 2024 in Concordia Hospice Donnell House Washington, PA.

He was born May 2, 1954 in Waynesburg, PA a son of the late Clyde and Dorothy Viestra Sweany.

Mr. Sweany was a 1972 graduate of Beth Center High School.

Bob was employed as an underground miner at the Clyde Mine in Fredericktown for over 20 years and then in maintenance at the Beth Center School District for over 13 years.

He was a member of the UMWA, Owls Club, East Beth Baptist Church and the Fredericktown American Legion.

Bob was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and gardening. He liked going to the casino and especially loved time with family and grandchildren.

On  November 13, 1976 he married Marsha Meyers Sweany who survives. They celebrated 47 years of marriage.

Also surviving are three children, Shannon Sweany of Deemston, PA, Robert J. Sweany (Heidi) of Washington, PA and Jordan Sweany (Roxanne) of Fredericktown, PA; five grandchildren Kaitlyn, Brooke, Mason, Everly and Landyn; a brother Don Sweany (Anne) of Belle Vernon, PA; a sister Mary Lou Webeck (Jim) of Deemston, PA.

Deceased is a granddaughter Ada Sweany.

Friends will be received Thursday from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA where funeral services will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11 AM with Pastor George Lammay and John Sweany officiating.
