Obituary

Robert A Boothe Sr. Of Ellsworth, Pa passed away on June 15th, 2026, having just celebrated his 82nd birthday with family on June 14th. He was the son of Elizabeth (Rodgers) and Arthur Boothe of Daisytown, PA. Graduating from California Area High School in 1964, his early years included service in the Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Department as well as tenure with Ellsworth Police Dept. He soon found his career employment with the United Mine Workers of America, local 1197 for over 35 years at both Bethlehem Mining Company and Console. After retiring at age 59, he enjoyed 23 years of retirement with those who loved him.

Robert was an active member of River of Life Church, Ellsworth, Pa, where he found a decades-long friendship with Pastor Paul Mitchell. Robert was also a member of Sons of the American Legion Post 705, Centerville, Pa.

Robert was married to Eileen Marie Leonard on July 2nd, 1966, in Garwood Baptist Church, Daisytown, Pa. Over the course of 52 years together they raised two children and 6 grandchildren, building a life filled with love and laughter.

Robert had a number of interests and hobbies that he enjoyed with friends and family throughout his life. Over 50 years of memories have been made at his camp in Elk County, Pa. He looked forward to many deer hunting seasons there, but moreover his property grew to be a place where many quad rides and campfire gatherings were enjoyed with his family. Having owned several classic cars, he enjoyed spending time with old friends and meeting new ones at the National Pike Steam Show as well as many other car shows and events in the area. Known for his warm charm and lighthearted jovial character, he seldom met someone who remained a stranger with his kindness and generosity touching countless lives and comforting those who knew him.

He is survived by his Daughter Dawn Sape & husband Jon with grandchildren Ryann and Jonathan, son Robert A Boothe Jr & wife Toni, grandchildren Ella and Ford.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Eileen and grandchildren Shenelle & Christopher Stuyvesant.
