Obituary

Paul Koci, 74, of Markleysburg, PA, passed away on August 29, 2024, in Ruby Memorial

Hospital, surrounded by family.

Paul was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 7, 1949, to the late Stanley and Mary

(Christy) Koci.

After graduation, Paul honorably served in the Army as a Military Policeman in Vietnam and

took pride as a Vietnam Veteran throughout his life.

Paul soon moved to Clarksville, PA to create a life more than most could imagine. He was a

self-made businessman, owning Koci's Tavern for over 35 years. Paul also worked as a

Coal Miner at the Pitt Gas Mine, until it closed. At the height of Paul's life, he was blessed

with three daughters and provided them with the most wonderful life on their beloved

family farm.

Paul's love for entertaining and being surrounded by people was a staple in his life. For

Paul, life was one big celebration. Whether socializing with his friends, patrons and family

by throwing parties at the bar, or at his home, Paul was the most kind and generous soul

you could meet. His smile was contagious, and his stubbornness even more so.

His love was deep for his family. He held proudly that he was able to establish such a

beautiful life for his family, coming from nothing. People admired him for his savviness and

generosity.

Paul fell ill and would live out the remainder of his life at Quality Life Services (QLS), of

Markleysburg, PA, where he was surrounded with an abundance of love and care, each day

by their staff. Paulie, as they called him, had become part of their family too. He enjoyed

his visits with his family and adventures with his brother, Gary.

During these years, Paul was blessed with the proudest title of his life, Pappy Paul. The joy

that kept him going was his two grandchildren, Maddix James and Tucker Paul. He loved

being a part of watching them grow up, their hugs and kisses, and often playing

shenanigans with them. Maddix and Tucker were his will to live.

After a brief illness, Paul is finally free of pain and suffering.

Paul is survived by his brother, Gary Koci of Clarksville, PA; his three daughters Nicole

(Armand) Leonelli of Finleyville, PA, Natalie (Richard) Robinson of Uniontown, PA and

Noelle Koci of Hopwood, PA; Grandchildren, Maddix and Tucker Robinson and mother of

his children, Darlene (Kayo) Connors.
