Nellie M. Lowery, 84, of Richeyville, PA passed away on February 14, 2026, in the Premier Washington Rehabilitation and Nursing after a recent battle with illness.

She was born on July 12, 1941, in Deemston Borough a daughter of the late William and Lillian Huseman Sumner.  Nellie graduated from the Ellsworth high School in 1960 and attended the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy later in life.  On September 24, 1961, she married the late Gary L. Lowery who passed away on November 9, 2017.

Nellie was known for her kind and funny personality and was employed as a Care Giver Fairview Valley PCH and Lasosky's PCH for many years.  She was also the occasional Hairdresser.  Mrs. Lowery enjoyed planting flowers, going on vacation to the beach, shopping with her daughter, and was an amazing cook.  Her famous dishes included chicken and dumplings, potato salad, and pie.

A longtime member of the Marianna United Methodist Church she was involved in church activities including chairman of the senior citizens luncheon, treasurer of the women's society of Christian service, serving on the nominating committee, flower committee, and was a communion steward.

She leaves behind one daughter Lisa Rice (Clarence "Don") of Richeyville; one grandson Zachary Knopp; many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces, and nephews.

Preceding her in death in addition to her husband are son Gary L. Lowery Jr., siblings Ida May Sumner Rogers, William "Wid" Sumner, Kenneth Sumner, Jim Sumner, Charles "Chap" Sumner, and Albert Sumner.

Friends will be received on Friday February 20, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd. 2830 Main Street Beallsville, PA where a funeral service will be held on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Benjamin Sorrow officiating.  Interment will be privately held in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.
