Louis "Lou" Franklin Detrick, 73, of Eighty Four, PA, peacefully passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 in McMurray Hills Manor, McMurray, PA.

He was born April 30, 1949 in Brownsville, PA, a son of the late Raymond and Aida Ruth Johnson Detrick.

Mr. Detrick attended Beth Center High School (class of 1969) and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics.  He was employed as an airplane mechanic at United Airlines and various airlines over the years, including Friend AirCare at Washington County Airport, eventually retiring from US Airways, now American Airlines.  During retirement, he worked as a boat mechanic in the Deep Creek, MD area.

Lou was a member of both the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bittinger, MD and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Scenery Hill, PA.

His hobbies included hunting, farming, working on antique tractors and equipment, flying, singing, and appreciating nature. Lou was a very hard worker who loved learning about all things and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

On June 12, 1971 he married Ruth Brenneman Detrick, who survives. They celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Lindsey Detrick (Brandon Novogradac) of Canonsburg, PA and Adam Detrick of Eighty Four, PA; a sister, Janice Litton (Bill) of Beallsville, PA; a stepsister Helen Hetrick of Grantsville, MD; a stepbrother, Robert Otto of Midland, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are an infant sister Janet Detrick and stepmother Mary Otto Detrick.

Friends will be received Friday, April 21, 2023 from 3 to 7 PM in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA.  An additional visitation will be held Monday, April 24, 2023 from 12 to 2 PM, in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 22 Maynardier Ridge Rd, Bittinger, MD, followed by a graveside service and interment in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 21 Church Rd, Scenery Hill, PA 15360, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 22 Maynardier Ridge Rd, Bittinger, MD 21536 or the Bittinger VFD, 176 Brenneman Rd., Bittinger, MD 21522.
