Leon G. Kononuk 93 of Washington, PA (formerly of Scenery Hill, PA) passed away Wednesday October, 13, 2021 in Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington.

He was born April, 25 1928 in Cokeburg PA, a son of the late Kostik and Rose Domestic Kononuk.

Mr. Kononuk attended Ellsworth High School.

Lee was a veteran of the U.S Army of the Korean War serving from 1952-1954.  For his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

Mr. Kononuk was a truck driver.  Formerly employed by Suwak Trucking Company.

Leon was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish Bentleyville Campus,

Cokeburg Moose Lodge, along with the American Legion post #165 Bentleyville.

Mr. Kononuk especially enjoyed playing cards, and enjoyed going to the Meadows Casino.

On July, 24, 1948 he married Helen Gilmore Kononuk who survives.  They celebrated 73 years of marriage.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son Philip Kononuk, of Greeley, CO.; several Nieces, and Nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are a sister Constance Kononuk, and a brother James Kononuk.
