Kathleen J. Matthews, 62 of Belle Vernon, PA (Rostraver Twp.) passed away Saturday July 6, 2019 in Mon Valley Hospital.

She was born September 7, 1956 in Washington, PA a daughter of the late Shirley Kucera Tiernan and Roy Tiernan of Waynesburg, PA who survives.

Mrs. Matthews was a 1976 graduate of California Area High School.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 801 Auxiliary Roscoe, Moose Lodge 461 Waynesburg and a social member of the Fayette City Legion.

A homemaker, Kathleen enjoyed going to the Meadows, cooking, crocheting and gardening. She especially enjoyed her two dogs, two cats and two birds.

On July 16, 2006 she married Edward L. Matthews who survives.

Also surviving are a son Christopher Hartley (Alisa) of Monongahela, PA; a step daughter Heidi Matthews (Carmen) of Uniontown, PA; a sister Linda Criss of Waynesburg, PA; three brothers, Roy Tiernan, Jr. (Cindy) of Roanoke, TX, Stephen Tiernan (Donna) of Belle Vernon, PA and Michael Tiernan (Carol) of Daisytown, PA; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to her mother is a sister Cheryl Tiernan who died in infancy.

Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd. 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
