June Boger Sacra of the Addison of Uniontown, PA (formerly of Washington, PA and Charlottesville, VA) passed away on November 11, 2025, at the age of 100.
June was born in Sandy Plains (Clarksville), PA on February 5, 1925 to the late Levi and Henrietta Bessie Wensing Boger. She was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from East Bethlehem High School in 1942, then attended the University of Pittsburgh and Montefiore Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1947. The government had organized the US Cadet Nurses Corp during WWII, which June was able to join. During her last 6 months of training, she was sent to Aspinwall Veterans Hospital in Pittsburgh. During her subsequent 40 years in the nursing profession, she held positions in nine different medical facilities. (PA, MO, VA, and NC)
In 1962 she moved to Charlottsville, VA where she accepted a position in the surgical department of UVA Medical Center. This was later followed by 17 years at Martha Jefferson Hospital, where she held the position of Supervisor of Staff Development, as well as CPR. She and her team also taught staff and employees at MJH and many places of business in the city.
June served the First United Methodist Church in many capacities since 1963: Women's United Methodist Board, Church Council, Staff Parish Committee, Sunday School teacher, Interior Decorating Committee during the renovation of 2001. Following her retirement from nursing, she volunteered in the Church office one day a week for 24 years.
June will always be remembered for her love of life, loving smile, and sincere interest in caring for others. She and Rudy traveled many miles in the U.S., Europe, and a variety of islands. They also loved animals, particularly poodles.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Rudolph Aston Sacra on August 22, 2003. They were married at the First United Methodist Church in Charlottesville on July 21, 1963. Also preceded in death by siblings Glenn, Ferne, Ruby (Gleason) Harden, Ruth (Vaughn) Christopher, Naomi (Howard) Martin, and Mildred (Merle) Grable. June is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
The family would like to thank the Addison of Uniontown and Albert Gallatin Home Care and Hospice of Uniontown for the superb and loving care given to June.
Friends will be received on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd. 2830 Main Street Beallsville, PA. Services will be held in the Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 p.m. with pastor Ken Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Buckingham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the First United Methodist Church, 101 East Jefferson St. Charlottesville, VA, 22902 or the Buckingham Cemetery Association, PO Box 59, Fredericktown, PA, 15333.
