Josephine Machinak, 99, formerly of Vestaburg, passed away Monday, May 29,
2023.
She was born June 10, 1923, a daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Kocio)
Machinak and was a long-time member of St. Michael the Archangel Church and
St. Katharine Drexel parish.
She graduated from Centerville High School in southeastern Washington County in
1941 before moving to Cleveland the following year to work in a bomber factory
during World War II. Afterwards, she continued to work in Cleveland at a dental
practice before returning home to the family farm in the late 1950's.
Josephine became a Licensed Beautician, worked several years on river tow boats,
then finally became a Licensed Practical Nurse working at Greene County Hospital
in Waynesburg until her retirement.
She enjoyed living on the farm, tending to her flowers, listening to Mother
Angelica, and especially loved family get togethers and hosting Christmas Eve and
Easter Holiday dinners.
Deceased in addition to her parents are a sister, Mary (Bellich) and four brothers,
John, Andrew, Joseph, Jr., and her fraternal twin Andrej who died in infancy.
Surviving are several nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Thursday, June 1 st , from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the
John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main St. Beallsville, followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at St. Agnes Church, Richeyville. Interment will be
in the Taylor Cemetery, West Brownsville.
