It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Michael Gallagher a beloved Husband, Father, Pap, Brother and Friend. He departed this life on Monday, March 31, 2025, to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished.

Born on September 12, 1954, in Waynesburg, PA, Mike was the son of the late Joseph T. Gallagher and Helen Sadlek Gallagher. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn Mankin Gallagher, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. He was a proud and loving father of Nicole Jo Vuono (Mark) of Clarksville and Rachel Wilson (Ross) of Haymarket, VA. Mike adored his grandchildren, Hunter Vuono, London Wilson and Gia Vuono who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Bert Gallagher of Charolette, N.C. and was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Caruso of Carmichaels.

Mike began his hardworking career as a teenager at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Mill in Allenport where fate brought him together with his love, Marilyn. Their bond grew strong, leading to a beautiful marriage in 1974 and they recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary. He was later employed at Clyde Mine in Fredericktown, dedicating many years to the mining industry. During his time at the mine, he was a proud member of the Mine Rescue Team, earning first-place recognition during a competition in Kentucky. The team was also called out to fight the Newfield mine fire.

Beyond his career, Mike was a man of adventure. As a passionate Harley-Davidson enthusiast, he was a proud owner of a 1949 Panhead and later a 1953 Panhead, both of which he personally rebuilt. He participated in several charity bike runs. He was also ready to lend a helping hand whether taking care of elderly family members, watching his grandchildren or assisting friends in need. His generosity knew no bounds.

Family traditions were close to Mike's heart. He took pride in making homemade noodles and pierogies for holiday dinners, bringing loved ones together through food and laughter. In recent years, he discovered a new passion for wine making crafting Malbec and Pinot Noir, which became a treasured part of family gatherings. His wines, like his presence, were a source of warmth and joy.

Though he will be deeply missed, Mike's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him through the stories, traditions, and cherished memories he leaves behind.

The Gallagher Family invites all those who knew and loved Mike to celebrate his life and legacy for visitation in the Greenlee's Fredericktown Funeral Home, Ltd., 42 Bank St. at Crawford Rd. Fredericktown, PA 15333,  Friday, April 4, 2025 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM where funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM with  Fr. Mike Zavage officiating.
