John J. Stepko Jr., 71 of Bentleyville , PA passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 26, 2024 in Allegheny General Hospital Pittsburgh.

He was born August 1, 1953 in New Eagle a son of the late John J. and Mary Sawka Stepko Sr.

John was a 1972 graduate of Bentworth High School and earned an associate's degree from Vale Tech.

Mr. Stepko was employed for 38 years at Consol Energy, Eighty Four Mine as a mechanic, retiring in 2008.

Catholic by faith, John was a member of the UMWA, California Sportsman's Club, Independent Club and Polish Club, both in Bentleyville.

An avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan, John also enjoyed hunting, golfing and loved to fix things.

On September 18, 1976 he married Kathie Grable Stepko who survives. Together they celebrated 48 years of marriage.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Zachary Stepko (Deidra) of South Park, PA and Michelle Stepko of Virginia Beach, VA; one grandchild Stephen McDonald (Maggie) of Columbia, SC; a sister Dolores Sprowls of Fallowfield Twp., PA; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a sister Leona Palla; two brothers in law, Laurrie "Larry" Sprowls and Edward Palla.

Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the Greenlee's Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main St. Bentleyville, PA where a Blessing Service will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela, PA.
