John C. "Jack" Davey, 97 of Millsboro, Pa. died Monday April 27, 2020.
He was born February 6, 1923 in Vestaburg, Pa. the son the late of Harry B. and Gladys Neil Davey.
Jack enlisted in the U.S Army in 1943 and became a surgical technician. He served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. For his service he was awarded Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze service stars, American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with three bronze service stars and Bronze arrowhead, WW II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal and was the oldest member of the Fredericktown American Legion Post #391.
He had been employed by Jones & Loughlin Steel Corp. at the Labelle processing plant for over 40 years and also worked for a period of time at Hillman Barge in Brownsville, Pa.
Jack enjoyed fishing on Ten Mile creek and golfing and was a longtime member of the Millsboro Presbyterian Church and the Beallsville F&AM Lodge #237.
Jack is survived by his son John A. Davey (Charlotte) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., two granddaughters, Delania Wagner of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Megan Davey of Washington, D.C., a great granddaughter, Peyton Wagner, a brother, Don Davey of Fredericktown, Pa. and a sister Beryl Cooley of Frederick, Md.
On June 28, 1947 he married Caroline Minicucci Davey whom predeceased him. Also deceased a daughter, Kim McCollum, two brother, Bill and Neil Davey, and three sisters, Carol Davey, Colleen Watson, and Geraldine Lunden.
All funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of the Greenlee Funeral Home, 42 Bank St. Fredericton. Interment will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Jefferson, Pa. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
