James V. Sprowls, 94 of Scenery Hill, PA took his last breath here and his first breath in heaven on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
He was born October 20, 1931 in Claysville, PA a son of the late Willliam and Nellie Scott Sprowls.
He grew up in Claysville/East Finley Twp. and was one of 19 children.
Mr. Sprowls served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Korean War. He was stationed in the state of Washington.
James was employed at Job Fab in Washington, PA as a welder/fabricator and shop foreman retiring with 40 years of service. He was also a self-employed beef cattle farmer.
After retirement he filled his time by not only learning to read music and teaching himself to play multiple instruments but went the extra mile and actually taught himself to build the instruments.
Mr. Sprowls was a member of Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church, serving as Trustee, Deacon and Elder. He was also a member of the National Pike Steam Pike Steam, Gas and Horse Association and served on several cemetery boards.
The love of his life, Jean Muir Sprowls, who survives, was met at a barn dance. They were married May 15, 1954 and had just celebrated 71 years together.
Also surviving are three children, Bill Sprowls (Karen), Jamie Jones and Jay Sprowls (Linda); eight grandchildren ,Greg, Jody, Katie, Bryan, Thomas, Scott, Rachel and Cody: nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter Bonnie Sprowls, son in law Gary Jones and a granddaughter Julie Sprowls.
Friends will be received Friday from 3 to 7 PM in the Greenlee's Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main St. Bentleyville where Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11 AM with Pastor John Dykstra officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery Ginger Hill, PA. An online guestbook is available at www.GreenleeFuneralHome.com.
