James R. Moyer ,78, of Bentleyville, PA (Somerset Township) passed away on Tuesday May 27, 2025.

He was born in New Eagle, PA on April 11, 1947 a son of the late James Edward and Katherine Gunter Moyer.  Mr.  Moyer was a 1965 graduate of the Bentley-Ellsworth High School.  He later obtained his Bachelor of Science degree and his Master of Arts degree in Special Education from the California University of Pennsylvania.

On June 23, 1979 he married his wife Susan Ayers Moyer who survives.  They cherished 45 years of marriage.

Jim was employed as a teacher at the Pittsburgh Public Schools and retired in 2006 after 36 years of service.  He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing.

He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and member of the Daisytown Athletic Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons Jeffrey Moyer (Shannon) of Bentleyville, PA and their children Paisley and Kennedy; Stephen Moyer of Alexandria, VA; and Edward Moyer (Katie) of Bentleyville, PA and their children Henry, Clyde, Elsey, and Evlyn; one brother Robert Moyer also of Bentleyville, PA.

Friends will be received on Sunday June 1, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Greenlee's Bentleyville Funeral Home 619 Main St. Bentleyville, PA.  Interment will be private.  An online guestbook is available at www.GreenleeFuneralHome.com
