Glen L. Thomson, 47, of Fredericktown, Pennsylvania passed away on April 2, 2020 at UPMC

Presbyterian Hospital, after a short illness.

Glen was born in December 1972 in Rangiora, New Zealand to Alan and Rebecca Thomson, who survive. Also surviving are Glen's wife of 16 years, Teresa, his brother, Roy, niece Jordan and great-nephew, Kaeden. He also leaves behind his beloved pets, three dogs and one cat.

Always a lover of animals, Glen found his passion in life when he began working for the Washington Area Humane Society in 2013. Starting off as a front desk worker, Glen moved to the role of Humane Society Police Officer in July 2015 and over the course of his career, saved more than 1,300 animals. One of his own dogs is also a trained and certified therapy dog that has educated and comforted people. Though Washington Area Humane Society was Glen's employer, he viewed the many co-workers and friends he made there as his extended family.

Those who got to know Glen well know that once you got past his reserved exterior, he was an incredibly funny man who loved joking around with family and coworkers. He also enjoyed preparing and trying new foods (he made a mean Beef Wellington), blowing off the stresses of his work by playing video games, and reading anything by Stephen King.

Glen was taken much too soon, and all we can do to make sense of this is that he had done so much good in the world that he had reached his quota of good deeds.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Washington Area Humane Society at 1527 Route 136, Eighty Four, PA 15330. Due to the situation with COVID-19, a memorial service will be planned for a later date.
