Gilbert J. "Gib" Finley, 92 of Vestaburg, PA passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024 in his home.

He was born January 26, 1932 in Vestaburg, PA a son of the late Clayton and Bernice Rhodes Finley.

He attended East Beth High School.

Gib had been employed as an underground coal miner for 13 years at J & L Steel Vesta # 5 Mine, Vestaburg Tipple, McGraw Edison Transformer  in Canonsburg as a layout man for 13 years and for the County of Washington Health Center for 13 years as an aide.

He attended East Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Gib enjoyed fishing and gardening, giving away many of the vegetables he grew. He was a true family man who loved his grandchildren and was always planning family get togethers.

On April 20, 1957 he married June Chapman Finley who survives. They celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Surviving are two children, Linda Philips (George) of Fredericktown, PA and Kipp Finley (Jill) of Millsboro, PA; five grandchildren, Amy Jo Mitchell (Steve), Joseph W. Retucci III (Maria), Jason Retucci (Megan), Shayne Holsopple (Alex), and Teighan Finley; 2 great grandchildren; a sister Ruth Arnone of Washington, PA; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are five siblings, Clayton Finley Jr., Anettta Ricuitti, Earl Finley, Marjorie Chinger, and John Finley.

Friends will be received Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 11 AM to 1 PM, the time of service in the California Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 73 Promised Land Drive, Coal Center, PA with Pastor Rodney Johnson officiating. Interment will be private and in Buckingham Cemetery, Deemston Borough.
