George E. Palyas,79 of Scenery Hill, PA passed away Wednesday, August 16 2023 in his home after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Palyas was a 1961 graduate of Ellsworth High School.

He was a proud U.S Airforce veteran of the Vietnam War serving in Air Traffic Control and Warning.

After returning home, George was employed as a painter for Joe Falvo, as well as a manager in logistics at Washington Steel.

He adored his grandchildren and family.  He also enjoyed golfing and bowling; George even achieved a hole in one on the 8th hole at Chippewa Golf Course.  Feeding birds and cats were hobbies he enjoyed as well.

On September 19, 1964 he married Joan B. Palyas who passed away June 29, 2014.

Surviving are two children Adam Palyas (Robin) of Venetia, PA, and Kelly Shaw (Kevin) of Winter Springs, FL; five grandchildren Morgan, Madison, Chandler, Jackson, and Reagan; three great grandchildren Dawson, Colson, and Hudson; four siblings Matthew Palyas (Elizabeth) of Bentleyville, PA, John Palyas (Peggy) of Lone Pine, PA, Susan Oshetsky (Steve) of Carmichaels, PA, and Tom Palyas (Lorna) of Scenery Hill, PA.

Deceased in addition to his wife are two siblings Dorothy Jean Palyas, and Paul Palyas; two nephews Matthew Palyas III, and Michael Oshetsky.

Friends will be received Friday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street Beallsville, PA where a blessing service will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. August 19, 2023 in the Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Wooddruff Memorial Park, Canonsburg, PA.  An online guestbook is available at www.GreenleeFuneralHome.com where you may express personal condolences to the Palyas family.
