George H. Closser Sr, 78 of Coal Center, PA passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born January 19, 1945 in Washington, PA a son of the late Earl and Charlotte Winters Closser.

George was a graduate of McGuffey High school and a proud Veteran of the U. S. Army.

He held various jobs including as a computer technician at IBM in Austin ,TX and Black Box in Canonsburg, PA.

Mr. Closser was a member of the Centerville American Legion Post # 705.

George enjoyed making stained glass, golfing, gardening, yard work and in his younger years, hunting.

Surviving are a son, George Closser II (Heather) of Richeyville, PA; two grandchildren, Melissa Williams and Ashley Gabbert (Curtis); four siblings, Tim Closser (Patty) of MI, Danny Closser of Irvine, CA, Kathryn Hixenbaugh of Avella, PA, and Mary Ann Swan of Claysville, PA; his long time companion Belletta "Kasha" Haught of Coal Center, PA and her children, Lori Barron and Larry Paton; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are his wife Sophiann C. Closser; a daughter Michele Derrow; a grandson James Rick Jr.; two brothers Richard "Dick" Closser and Earl Wayne Closser.

Friends will be received Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 2 to 6:30 PM, the time of services with Pastor Kevin Carpenter officiating  in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA at a later date where Military Honors will be accorded.
