George William Burcin February 25, 1943 – June 11, 2025

George William Burcin, 82, of Ellsworth, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 25, 1943, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, George was the son of the late Michael Burcin and Mary (Grachen) Burcin. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1961 and soon after answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army, where he proudly served for three years.

Following his military service, George worked in several steel mills before pursuing a machinist trade through an apprenticeship at a tool and die shop. In 1972, he began working at Bethlehem Mine #60, where he spent six years underground and another 25 years in the Wilson repair shop.

On September 17, 1965, George married his high school sweetheart, Patricia A. Daniloff. Together they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and community. They were blessed with a daughter, Carey Ann, born on May 1, 1971.

A passionate outdoorsman, George found great joy in both saltwater and freshwater fishing. In the early 1970s, alongside a small group of fellow enthusiasts, he helped build the Ellsworth Sportsman's Club—an organization he remained devoted to, serving as president for 22 years. He later managed the Cokeburg Dam fishing lake for 16 years and was a dedicated Hunter Safety Instructor with the Pennsylvania Game Commission for an incredible 55 years.

George also gave back to his community through three decades of service as a councilman for the Borough of Ellsworth. His tireless commitment to civic life and the outdoors made a lasting impact on countless lives.

Above all, George was a devoted family man. He cherished his role as husband, father, and especially grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia; his daughter Carey Mock (longtime companion Jamie Lowry); and his three adored granddaughters: Abigail Mock, Miranda Mock, and Caroline Mock. He is also survived by his brother John Burcin (Jayne), and many cherished friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Michael Burcin; and his son-in-law, Adam John Mock.

George's legacy is one of quiet strength, deep loyalty, and unwavering dedication to family, community, and the outdoors. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, June 16, 2025 in the Greenlee's Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main St, Bentleyville, PA  15314.   A service will be held on Tuesday, June 17 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Sheldon Barnett officiating.   Interment will follow at Scenery Hill Cemetery.  An online guestbook is available at www.GreenleeFuneralHome.com.
