George Basara, 85 of Cokeburg, PA passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022 in his home.

He was born June 7, 1937 in Washington, PA a son of the late Rada and Martha Beckage Basara.

George attended Bentworth High School and was employed at Cerdec Corporation retiring in 2001.

Mr. Basara was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Cokeburg, Charleroi/Monongahela Lodge # 337 F&AM, Bentleyville American Legion, Independent Club, Polish Club, Miners Club and Lithuanian Club. He also served of the Board of the Pigeon Creek Sanitary Authority for over 12 years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, camping and playing music with his friends. He played in the Croatian Band in Cokeburg.

On September 20, 1980 he married Carol Ruetschi Basara who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter Barb Zelensky (Ron) of Belle Vernon, PA; a step daughter Sandy Cottrell of West Alexander, PA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Ronald Basara; a sister Anne Sulivan; step son Douglas Alexander.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Saturday, November 26 at 1 PM in the Cokeburg Presbyterian Church, 100 Washington St. Cokeburg, PA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Concordia Hospice 10 Leet St. Washington, PA 15301 or the Bentleyville Library 931 Main St. Bentleyville, PA 15314. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Greenlee's Bentleyville Funeral Home.
