Frederick Kirr Jr., 72 of Waynesburg, PA (formerly of Martins Ferry, OH) passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 in Washington Hospital.

He was born March 4, 1951in Belmont, OH a son of the late Frederick and Shirley Bennett Kirr Sr.

Mr. Kirr proudly made a career of the U.S. Army serving over 20 years and was a veteran of both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. For his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/3 Bronze Stars, Marksman Badge (Rifle M-16), 1 Overseas Bar, Army Commendation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/2 bronze service stars, overseas Service Bar, among many other awards and citations from his distinguished career.

Following his military career he was employed as an equipment operator for the city of Martins Ferry, OH for many years.

Frederick enjoyed fishing, computer games, NASCAR and the Steelers.

Surviving are a step son, Heath Taggart (Sabrina) of Bentleyville, PA; two grandchildren, Brayden and Mylah Taggart; a sister, Sherry Hammerquist of Martins Ferry, OH.

Deceased are his wife Ruth Ann Yates Kirr who died in 2009 and a sister Emma Smith.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 10 AM in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with Military Honors.
