Florence Ann Barisa, 91, of Washington, formerly of Ellsworth, PA passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 in Strabane Woods, Washington, PA. She was born July 2, 1929 in Stockdale, PA, a daughter of the late Emory P. and Mary Zalom Fabian.
Florence was a 1947 graduate of Charleroi High School.
On September 17, 1949, she married Joseph E. Barisa who passed away December 28, 2007.
Florence attended the Bentworth Senior Citizens and a former member of the Bentworth Band Boosters where she had been Treasurer. She was also active in the Girl Scouts.
A homemaker, Mrs. Barisa enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, crafts, traveling and making homemade Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.
Florence was described as a very gracious lady. If anyone did something for her, she always wanted to give back in any way she could, even if it was giving a bottle of water.
Mrs. Barisa was a 70 year member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Bentleyville Campus.
She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, a former member of the Red Hat Society, and a member of the Ellsworth Women's Club.
She is survived by a son, William J. Barisa (Arleen) of Holland, PA; two daughters, Irene Rehman (William) of Washington, and Marcella Cooper (Randy) of Yorkville, OH; four grandchildren, Robert W. Rehman, Brian Rehman, Amanda Hudock and Jeffrey Hudock.; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Fabian (Sandra) of Rostraver Twp., PA.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is an infant daughter, Mary Ann Barisa; four brothers, Emory Fabian, William Fabian, Eugene Fabian, and David Fabian; two sisters, Mary Cowell and Elizabeth Johnson.
Friends will be received Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Greenlee's Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main St., Bentleyville. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Bentleyville Campus, 126 Church St, Bentleyville, with Rev. Edward Yuhas officiating. Interment will follow in St. Luke Cemetery, Bentleyville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vision Services (formerly the Blind Assoc.), 566 E. Maiden St. Washington, PA 15301.
The family would like to thank the excellent and loving care of the staff at Strabane Woods and Pam and Ashley of Gateway Hospice.
In accordance with CDC guidelines, facial coverings are required and social distancing will be observed.
