Edward A. Yonosik

Edward A. Yonosik, 90, of Marianna, PA passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026 at Jennie’s Personal Care Home.

Born September 9, 1935 he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Makita Yonosik. Edward was a proud graduate of West Beth High School. In 1954, he began his military service in the U.S. Army, serving until 1957. A Corporal during the Korean War, he was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, where he held Cosmic Clearance and worked with NATO intelligence, receiving, deciphering, and organizing highly classified documents.

On October 13, 1956 Edward married the love of his life, Beatrice Risbin Yonosik. Their love was the foundation of his life. After their wedding, he took his bride with him to Germany, where they welcomed their first daughter Kimberly in 1957.

After returning home to the U.S. Edward studied electronics and began a career with RCA Corporation in Washington, PA where he worked until the plant closed in 1984. He then joined bell Atlantic in Pittsburgh, where he helped install some of the first cellular car phones and bag phones. He retired in 1994.

Edward was a man who could do almost anything he set his mind to. He took tremendous pride in building much of the family home in Marianna with his own hands and devoted countless hours to maintaining his home and beautifully cared for lawn. He was also a gifted artist. In retirement, he discovered a passion for creating stained-glass lamps and nightlights. His work was so exceptional that collectors often remarked that it was difficult to tell the difference between his lamps and Tiffany lamps. Each piece was truly a work of art.

He had a deep and abiding love for the history of his hometown of Marianna. He spent countless hours collecting photographs and slides documenting the history of Marianna and Mine 58. He generously shared that history with others through numerous slide show presentations at the Marianna Public Library.

In the 1970’s Edward became affectionately known as the “Marianna TV Repairman” with his paneled van, he would travel to people’s homes to collect their broken televisions, bring them back to his workshop, and repair them with great pride before returning them as good as new.

He believed strongly in giving back to his community. He served on the board of the Marianna Public Library and was a member of the Marianna Parks and Recreation Committee, as well as the Marianna American Legion.

His faith was an important part of his life. Edward faithfully attended mass at Saints Mary and Ann Catholic Church in Marianna. For approximately 20 years, he helped care for the church through maintenance and also served as an usher at weekly masses.

Above all else, Edward was a family man. Nothing could compare to the love he felt for his wife, Beatrice. Their marriage was a lifelong story, and her passing in 2009 left an emptiness in Edwards’ heart that never truly went away. He longed for the day when he would be in her embrace again. His family finds comfort in believing that, after all these years Edward and Beatrice are together once more.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife he is preceded in death by his brothers Steven Yonosik, who died in infancy; John, Frank and Robert Yonosik; sister Margaret Yonosik Privara; and beloved granddaughter Sarah Christine Birsic, who tragically lost her life while living in Quincy, Illinois.

His memory will forever be cherished by daughters Kimberly (David) Pinkney of Marianna and Kathleen (William) Bursic of Pittsburgh; grandchildren Michelle Pinkney, Nicole (John) Bauer, and William (Mary) Birsic; four great grandchildren Tyler Musgrave, Jonathan, Grayson, and Vivian Bauer.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all of Edwards caregivers, especially everyone at Standish Assisted Living and Jennie’s Personal Care Home. Their loving dedication will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew him. And now, after a long and full life, we take comfort in knowing that Edward is once again with the women he loved so dearly-his beloved Beatrice.

Friends will be received on Tuesday September 8, 2026 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd. 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Katharine Drexel Parish Richeyville Campus with the Rev. Edward L. Yuhas as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Saints Mary and Ann Catholic cemetery, Marianna. An online guestbook is available.
