Doris "Dorie" Nicholls, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 12, 2025 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 29, 1948 in Washington, PA a daughter of the late Charles and Betty Loar Baumgardner. She attended and graduated from Trinity High School in 1966. Naturally, Dorie was her family's caregiver and was employed as an Office Manager for over 30 years for Dr. Gerald Nies, and Dr. Gales in Washington, PA retiring in 2000.
Dorie lived her life to the fullest and enjoyed many unique opportunities. Including camping, wintering in Florida, boating, and playing cards. She was a member of the "Card Club Subs of Beallsville," and the "Thursday Women's Card Group." An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, she enjoyed going and watching the games, attending various plays, going to the Casino, and staying at the Schultz cabin. Spending time with her grandchildren meant everything to Dorie.
Doris was a faithful member of the Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church in Eighty Four, PA for over 45 years serving as a Deacon and Financial Secretary. She was also a member of the PA Medical Society where she was a Medical Assistant, and the Elks Lodge #776 in Washington, PA.
On October 28, 1967 she married her husband Lonnie C. Nicholls who survives. They cherished 57 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband she leaves behind her son Lonnie C. Nicholls Jr. (Kim Parker) of Eighty Four; two grandchildren Bradley Nicholls (Hannah Kalsey) and Joshua W. Nicholls (Claire Garber) both of Waynesburg, PA; brothers Charles Baumgardner (Elizabeth) of Washington, PA, Larry Baumgardner (Laura) of Glendale, WI, Brian Baumgardner (Brenda) of Washington, PA, and David Baumgardner (Julie) of Canonsburg, PA; sister in law Becky Bonnell of Washington; several nieces and nephews; former daughter in law Kris Nicholls
Preceding her in death are two brothers Ken Bonnell, and Ron Baumgardner.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday February 19, 2025 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd. 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA. Additional visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at which time a Funeral Service will be held in the Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church 45 Church Rd, Eighty Four, PA 15330 with Pastor John Dykstra officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church in her memory or the Salvation Army Washington Division 60 E. Maiden St. Washington, PA, 15301.
