Donald H. White, Jr.

May 22, 1941 — Oct 13, 2026

Donald Harry White, Jr., 85, of Fredericktown, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 13, 2026, surrounded by his family that meant the world to him.

Born on May 22, 1941, in Fredericktown, Don was a lifetime resident of the community he called home. He was the son of the late Donald "Jum" and Lillian White, Sr.   On June 24, 1961, Don married his beloved wife, Judith Ann Martin White. What began as a marriage more than 65 years ago became a life filled with love, family, hard work, laughter, and memories that will last forever.

Don was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his young family. He was a graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School. He retired from Super Valu after 38 years of service. In his younger years, he also served as a part-time police officer with East Bethlehem Township. He was a former member of the Teamsters Local 872, Sun Valley Hunting Club, and a social member of American Legion, Hanson-Cole Post 391.  But to know Don was to know that his life was so much more than his work.

He was an outdoorsman through and through. He loved hunting, fishing, and growing enormous vegetable gardens for his family. When he was younger, he raised cows and pigs, had a horse, goat, and many beloved dogs who followed him around his six acres of property. When he first moved into the home he and Judith purchased almost 60 years ago, he personally cleared several acres using an old-time scythe and an ax to cut down trees. He was happiest when he was working outside whether cutting grass, tending to his garden, chopping wood for his wood burner, staying busy, and doing something that would benefit the people he loved. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons participate in sports, especially football. He loved listening to music.

Don was big in stature and was 6'5" in his prime. His size could be intimidating to those who didn't know him, and his co-workers affectionately nicknamed him Bodie, after the old-time television star Cheyenne Bodie. Anyone who truly knew Don knew that behind that imposing presence was a gentle giant with an even bigger heart.  He was witty, he was funny, he had a way of saying exactly what he thought and gave advice in a way that was uniquely Don.

There was no role that Don cherished more than being a family man. His wife, his children, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his greatest pride and his greatest joy. He loved watching his family grow and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Judith; his daughters Deborah and Dina White; his son, Donald White, III (Pam); and sister Carrie Ann Davis.  He leaves behind his grandsons Dakota (Jesse) and Blayze (Emily) Vilcoss; Anthony and Braden (Hannah) Vernet; Donald IV, Wyatt (Grace), and Tristan (Alexis) White; and Cody (Liz) and Mikey (Clair) Tharp.  His great-grandchildren Donna Mae White, Wyatt White Jr., Walker and Suzanna Tharp; and baby girl White due October 2026, brought a special kind of happiness to his life.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Donna White Vilcoss; his parents, Donald "Jum" and Lillian White, Sr.; sisters Nancy Goodrow and Judith Gabehart; and brother Mark White.

His family will miss seeing Don sitting outside on his swing watching the variety of wildlife that roamed his property, cutting grass, frequent drives on his gator or preparing wood for the winter. They will miss his voice, his laugh, and simply knowing he was there. Most of all they will miss the man that made his family the center of his world.

Don lived a life that was not about having the most or being the most. It was about working hard, loving his family, helping others, working outdoors and making memories along the way.  Don will live on in the stories he told, the lessons he taught, the traditions he passed down, and in every generation that carries a piece of him forward.

The family would like to thank the Hospice staff who cared for Don over the past month, especially Nurse Jackie for her compassion, knowledge and the unwavering care and support she provided to Don and his family. At Don's request, services are private and under the direction of the Greenlee's Fredericktown Funeral Home, Ltd., 42 Bank St., Fredericktown, PA.  Interment took place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.  An online guestbook is available.
