Obituary

Bernice Manos, 98, of Brownsville, PA (Centerville Boro) passed away on May 11, 2026, in the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital.

She was born in Royal, PA on July 28, 1927, a daughter of the late Walter and Bernice A. Bartovich Zaporowsky.  Bernice graduated from the Centerville High School and later became a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Brownsville Hospital.  Her most recent passion was working as a Vet Tech for Dr. Hershaman in Uniontown.

Bernice had a unique ability to do masonry work, and she enjoyed doing her own home renovations.  She also enjoyed dancing and was a woman of great faith and member of the Historic Church of St. Peter in Brownsville.

Surviving are siblings Caroline Zaporowsky Dando and John McKulka; several loving nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are siblings Rose Zaporwsky Pindrock, Dorothy Jankovic, Ed "Tex" Zaporwsky, Alfred and Robert Zaporwsky and Joann Matula; brother-in-law William Dando II and sister-in-law Sue McKulka.

Friends will be received on Thursday May 14, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd. 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Historic Church of St. Peter in Brownsville, with Fr. Efren Ambre as celebrant.  Everyone is asked to please meet at the church, Interment will follow in the Taylor cemetery.
