Barbara Ann Lutes was born on August 17, 1940, to Pauline Manos Lutes Peach and Henry Lutes. Raised by her grandparents, Suzie and Lee Goodal in Richeyville, Pennsylvania, Barb was in the 1958 graduating class of Centerville High School. She went on to Robert Morris University and upon graduation worked in Pittsburgh. Barb moved to Washington DC to accept a job with the Federal government. Barb continued to work in Washington DC in both the public sector and private law firms as a legal secretary until her retirement. Her work supported her love of travel and she traveled the world with various friends. Barb married twice, raced cars, owned a bar, and served as president of her condo association. After retirement and a trip to Istanbul, she remodeled her grandparents' home and returned to Richeyville where she could proudly cheer her Pittsburgh Steelers.
Barb was a whirlwind whose heart turned to mush when talking about dogs. She grew up with Rocky, the family German Shepard and went on to volunteer with various dog rescue groups. She adopted numerous elderly or "forgotten" dog giving them a loving and comfortable home. She was still grieving the death of her last dog, Bella, a loving but hardheaded diva Chihuahua, when she died.
Barb was the last of her immediate family and leaves behind many devoted friends.
Contributions in her honor may be made to two of her favorite charities, Orphans of the Storm (No Kill Shelter) of KIttaning, PA, or Southern Comfort Maltese Rescue in Chattanooga, TN. Funeral Services are Private. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 13, 2021 at 10:30 AM in the St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Richeyville Campus with Father Don Chartos officiating.
