Arthur Arnold Coleman passed away on June 14, 2023 peacefully surrounded by his family.
Born in Natick Massachusetts, Art was a graduate of Natick High School and Wentworth
Institute of Technology where he studied facilities engineering. During his career he held
various roles in Facilities Management for Quincy Cold Storage, Morgan Construction Company,
Beacon Communications and the Auburn Public School System.
In retirement he and his wife Barrie moved to Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania and opened "G.G.Gundies" gift shop until 2014.
Artie was always involved in his community and served as a member of the Auburn Rotary Club, Junior Woodchucks, Auburn Sportsman's Club, Scenery Hill Light Committee, and the Scenery Hill Civic Association.
Art was a fan of all sports. As a young man he played football, basketball, hockey, and golf, of which he continued throughout his life making many dear friends on the course.
Other hobbies included hunting and all types of fishing, He was known for a quick laugh and a good pun. He loved jokes and a surprise "schnooker" on a friend. He showed his love by cooking – for friends and family. Pancakes, London broil, toad- in- the- hole, and chili were his specialties and became common requests of his grandchildren. He was a valiant protector of his family and friends,
He is predeceased by the love of his life, Barrie, who passed away in January of this year. We
know he just couldn't be without his girl. Their love story started in their junior year of high school and lasted through their 50 years of marriage.
Art is also predeceased by his parents Estelle and Sherwood, sister Karen and her husband Paul, and niece, Jessica.
He is survived by his daughters Deryn (Nate) and Ashley (Rich), Sister-in-law, Laurie, grandkids Haley, Jake, Jacob, Emma, Kalliyan, Millaney and Owen and great grandson Carter. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he adored as well as extended family and friends.
A Celebration of love and life will be held for Barrie and Arthur on July 15, 2023 for Massachusetts
friends from 1- 4 at General Federation of Women's Clubs of Massachusetts. A Pittsburgh area celebration will be held at The Century Inn, Scenery HiIl on August 12, 2023 from 1 - 3. Arrangements have been entrusted to the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd. 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA.
