Anthony "Tony" Chrobak, 77, of Scenery Hill, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, December 12, 2025, at UPMC Mercy Hospital Pittsburgh, surrounded by family.

Tony was born on September 23, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late John Paul Chrobak and Cecilia Marshock Chrobak. The family later relocated to the small southwestern Pennsylvania town of Cokeburg—affectionately known as "Coal Town, USA"—where Tony built lifelong friendships and deep roots in the community.

In Cokeburg, Tony formed enduring bonds with friends including Jimmy Snyder, Georgie Kopsack, Georgie Brova, the late Ray Pscolka, Johnny Dovshek, Donald "Duffy" McFeely, and many others too numerous to count. He also shared a special relationship with his grandfather, John Chrobak, a skilled carpenter who inspired Tony's lifelong career in the trades. Tony never missed a chance to proudly describe himself as a self-proclaimed "elementary spelling bee champeen," just as he liked to say it.

Throughout much of his life, Tony was rarely without close friends by his side, including Gary "Swifty" Puskarich, the late Reid Yannacci, neighbor Joe Blizman, and Tim Van Voorhis. Countless evenings were spent making Italian cured meats, bottling homemade red wine, and watching football games in the mess hall—memories treasured by all who shared them.

Tony was a 1967 graduate of Bentleyville-Ellsworth High School.

In 1968, he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War as a Specialist 5 in the revered and feared 101st Airborne Division's "Screaming Eagles" and he wore the Old Abe crest with pride. He earned the Bronze Star Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the Vietnam Service Medal for his valor and heroic conduct in battle.

Tony was a member of the F&AM Sunset Lodge # 237 and was a 32 degree Mason belonging  to  the Consistory of the Valley of Wheeling.

After returning home from service, Tony married Charmaine Yannacci Chrobak, with whom he raised two children. Together they co-founded T&C Remodeling, Inc. in 1976, a business that continues today under the ownership of his son, family members, and co-owner Brian Profrock—carrying forward the work ethic, grit, and values Tony instilled.

In 1996, Tony met Joy E. Assad Chrobak, whom he later married. They spent the remainder of his life together, and her devoted care and love meant more to Tony and his family than words can express.

Tony found joy in gardening, where his green thumb produced legendary, award-winning tomatoes. He also enjoyed time at the scrap yard—turning #2 copper into #1, cleaning aluminum, and listening to country and bluegrass music. A founding member of the Cokeburg Football Club, a traveling Pittsburgh Steelers fan group, Tony proudly cheered on the black and gold in stadiums across the country, sharing laughter, camaraderie, and traditions that turned friends into family.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Joy Chrobak; his daughter, Cristi Tanney (Brian); his son, Jeremy Chrobak (Jamie); stepdaughter Bettina Lemmon Brown (Craig); sister Mary Pattison (Dan); nieces Lisa Agostoni and Gina Profrock; grandchildren Cerstyn, Cylayah, Gage, and Cora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joey Chrobak—"the legend"—who surely welcomed him with open arms and, no doubt, a knuckle sandwich.

Friends will be received Thursday, December 18, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Greenlee's Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA where additional visitation will be held Friday, December 19, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a Blessing Service at 11:00 AM with Deacon Al Poroda officiating. Interment will follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite Steelers gear. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony's memory to the Washington County Humane Society or the Fisher House Foundation in support of veterans.
