Anna Mae
Knezovich
Jun 1, 1927 — Feb 8, 2025
Anna Mae Knezovich, 97, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Her wit, her energy, and her positivity will be missed by all with whom she shared her life. She was the youngest child born, June 1, 1927, to Martin and Zuzanna Sabo, of Crucible, PA. Anna Mae was the last of her generation in her family.
The work ethic of the greatest generation was evident in Anna Mae from the floors of the Burkowicz Sewing Factory in Waynesburg, to the counters of Marshall Drug in downtown Cleveland, to the registers at Dom's Foodland in Brownsville, to the cafeterias of the Beth-Center School District in Fredericktown. She was also a ready volunteer, always there with a helping hand and a smile in the church, the community, and the schools.
Anna Mae married Steve Knezovich on June 30, 1951. They settled in Vesta #6 to build a home and raise a family. He predeceased her in November 1992. Anna Mae joined St. George's Serbian Orthodox Church, Masontown, when she married Steve. She held many offices on the church board and participated in the holiday baking and the summer picnics. But her favorite church activity was singing in the choir. "First chair alto," she'd chuckle.
Anna Mae also enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting and crochet, and crafts of all kinds. She was a force with a glue gun and floral wire! If you wanted a perfect bow on your project, sit next to Anna Mae!
She is survived by her children: Steve and Linda Knezovich, Centerville; Susan Knezovich (Dennis Lee deceased Jan 2020) Lanham, MD; Martin and Tammy Knezovich, Indiana; her grandchildren: Denton and Alexandra Knezovich, Lausanne, Switzerland; Keith Knezovich, Pflugerville, TX; Alexander Lee and Rachel Humphreys, Eagle River, AK; Elizabeth Lee, Columbia, MD; Julianne Knezovich, Port Angeles, WA; Jennifer Knezovich, Wake Forest, NC; her great grandchildren: Luca and Amalya Knezovich, Lausanne, Switzerland; and Teagan and Madigan Lee, Eagle River, AK.
A vibrant supporting cast of nieces and nephews will also miss their beloved aunt.
Family and friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025 in the Greenlee's Fredericktown Funeral Home Ltd. 42 Bank St. Fredericktown, PA. Placing of the Cross will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. A funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 14, with Father Nedic and Torbic officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park. An online guestbook is available at www.GreenleeFuneralHome.com.
Anna Mae's family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff and administration of McMurray Hills Manor and Gateway Hospice for their kindnesses and compassionate care.
Although the past several years provided her with challenges she didn't always understand, our mom managed to find joy every day in a hot cup of tea, a piece of candy and sunshine on her face! We'll miss you mom!
