Anna Mae Hopshire, 92, of Fredericktown, PA, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025. In the last six years of her life, Anna was a well-cared for and popular resident at Southminster Place, Woodside Place, and Southmont, of Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington, PA.

Anna Mae was born February 17, 1933 in Millsboro, PA, the daughter of John and Julia

Hopshire. She was a graduate of East Bethlehem High School and the Waynesburg Hospital

School of Nursing, where she trained to be an LPN. Following that, Anna was employed at the Curry Home of Greene County in Waynesburg, PA for several years. She later worked as a private duty home care-giver, and eventually lived with John J. and Elizabeth P. Moschetta of Fredericktown for 35 years. Anna lovingly cared for both John and Elizabeth Moschetta until their passings. Additionally, Anna Mae provided nursing care for Dr. Thomas E. and Winifred Morgan of Fredericktown; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Jean Hopshire of Rices Landing; and others in need of her skills. Anna Mae's passion was nursing others, and anyone lucky enough to be in her charge received outstanding and compassionate care.

Because of her fine reputation as a young nurse, Anna was chosen to meet

former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, who after her years in the White House, continued her

support of women's and humanitarian causes by inviting outstanding women to luncheon visits

with her. Anna treasured her July 1957 meeting and photo with Mrs. Roosevelt, but rarely

mentioned the honor to others.

In addition to nursing, Anna loved shopping, a fresh cup of coffee, time with friends and

family, winters in Florida, and being a favorite aunt or great aunt. She volunteered as a poll

worker for many years in Fredericktown.

Anna was a member of the former St. Michael's the Archangel Catholic Church of

Fredericktown, now St. Katherine Drexel Parish.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Frank, George, Charles

and John Hopshire; her two sisters, Mary Hopshire and Helen Hopshire Santucci. Anna Mae's

twin sister died at birth. She is survived by two-sisters-in-law, Genita Hopshire of Denver, CO,

and Mary Hopshire, of Warren, PA; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews;

and by all extended family members.

Friends will be received Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 10 to 11 AM, the time of service, in Greenlee's Fredericktown Funeral Home, Ltd., 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road Fredericktown, PA with Deacon Al Poroda officiating. Interment will follow in the Fredericktown Cemetery.
