Vera M. Santee

Vera M. Santee, 95 of Fredericktown, PA (Deemston Borough) passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at her home.
Vera was born April 21, 1922 in Sutton, WV the daughter of the late Amos Grover and Beulah Sutton Lewis.
On June 5th 1943 she married Earl (Buddy) Santee who passed away February 26, 1983.
A homemaker, Vera was a graduate of Centerville High School.
Vera was a 54 year member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where she held numerous offices. As a member of W.S.C.S. and a socialite, Vera was always helping with dinners and other events within the church. One of her proudest accomplishments was being able to help organize the Vacation Bible School. In addition to her Church activities, Vera volunteered for years at the former Brownsville General Hospital.
A member of the Beth Center Senior Citizens Center of Vestaburg, Vera enjoyed all of the trips sponsored by the center especially those to the Poconos and Atlantic City. Vera was an avid Shuffleboard player winning many medals in the Senior games.
Vera's favorite hobbies included bingo, card games, crossword puzzles and cryptograms. A voracious reader, Vera would become immersed in whatever she was reading. Crafts, painting, and dancing were also Vera's beloved activities. Vera's best known trait was always being on the go!
Being with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren was especially meaningful to her.
Surviving is a son Alan W. Santee of Fredericktown; two granddaughters, Alanna (Scott) Popovich of Canonsburg, PA and Megan (Clark) Walrod of Raleigh, NC; two great grandchildren, Ava and Alexander Popovich; two brothers in law, Robert Santee and Clifford Santee, and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her husband are two sons, Kenneth Earl Santee (1950) and Randall Craig Santee (1960); daughter in law Gerrie Santee (2005); and two sisters, Doris Tucker and Freda Giffin.
Funeral arrangements will be private and under the direction of John B. Greenlee Funeral Home 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA. The Family requests that memorial contributions be made to Beth Center Senior Citizen Center, 316 Station St PO Box 151, Vestaburg, PA 15368
